Happy Tolkien Reading Day 2014

GUESS WHO’S ACTUALLY A CANON CHARACTER.

Yeah, it’s a technicality, and Bilbo does refer to the chief guard as “he.”  However, you can chalk that up to Bilbo being mistaken/an unreliable narrator/misremembering if you want, and Tolkien himself stated in “The Laws and Customs of the Eldar” that among the Elves there was no job that was limited to solely men or women.

In any case, Tolkien Reading Day is about celebrating all the Tolkien in all its forms, far as I’m concerned, so do like Tauriel, grab some Tolkien, and read!
